In general, servicing gas or diesel powered vehicles is almost the same, they both use an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE). One uses a spark plug to ignite the fuel mixture the other uses a very high compression ratio that causes the temperature of the air drawn into the combustion chamber to get very hot when the diesel fuel is injected it starts combustion.
A regularly maintained vehicle will run smoother, use less gas and help the environment.
It is regularly stated by some "quickie-lube" shops "to change your oil every 3,000 miles." With today's vehicles, this may not be the best scenario!
Of course your oil and filter should be changed at the manufacturer's recommended interval BUT this can vary depending on your type of vehicle use (multiple short trips or long trips) and the type of oil. Changing your oil too often is a waste of oil! Not changing your oil often enough will “waste” your engine.
We help you to get the correct balance. You might have to change your oil every 3,750 miles or by using a special synthetic oil every 20,000 miles. Look at the difference this makes to the environment and our demand for oil.
One person uses 25 quarts of oil in 20,000 miles while another only 5 quarts. At GoGreenCarCare we help you match your oil changes to your use while keeping your car safe and reliable.
Now, if you only change your oil every 20,000 miles, that doesn't mean that your vehicle doesn't need other service items performed more regularly. Both gas and diesel powered vehicles should have a preventive maintenance service performed at least every six months. At this interval all the safety items should be checked. Wheels, tires, brakes, steering and suspension should be looked at with skilled eyes.
These are some of the items we have found while performing our two smallest services.
- Objects in tires.
- Tire wear.
- Bent wheels.
- Under car damage caused by impact.
- Uneven brake wear.
- Lights out.
- Coolant and oil leaks.
Parts missing from the suspension!! These are things you do not want happening to your vehicle, so plan on at least a 6-month check up for your safety, highest mileage and the good of the environment!
