Hybrid Services
Ask us how to extend your service interval between oil changes, saving you money, convenience and helping the environment.
All Hybrid services we perform meet manufacturers specifications and maintain your vehicle warranty.
Most of the recommended services that are performed on hybrid vehicles are the same as those performed on gas vehicles. They still need regular checks of the safety items like tires, brakes, suspension and steering.
In addition there are some additional specific services, some relating to the electric drive of the vehicle. Here are some services that as a first time hybrid owner you may not be familiar with.
- Inverter and transmission cooling system coolant service every 90k miles. (Toyota, Lexus, Ford, Mercury).
- Changing the rear end oil. (Lexus RX400h, Highlander, Escape)
- High voltage connections clean and protect every 90k miles.
- Check starter motor operation on Honda vehicles every fall. (The starter motor is hardly used so it is important to make sure it works)
- Change brake fluid every 30k miles and check the brakes efficiency. Hybrid vehicles use the electric motor to slow down so the brake pads do not wear out. The traditional way of checking brakes is to record the thickness of the brake pads and monitor the wear. The condition of the contact area of the brake pad and the rotor condition are more important. If these areas rust through lack of use the efficiency of the brakes is affected.
- Some vehicles have a High Voltage battery air filter that should be replaced every 15k miles.
A final reminder, servicing any vehicle requires matching maintenance services with the type of use you give the vehicles. We always take this into consideration along with manufacturer's recommendations and our experience when advising you.
